Algorithmic Anxiety

“This series explores how algorithms shape the concept of human identity.

The computer seems more in control of our choices than we are, which short-circuits our process of organic self-discovery, allowing us to distance ourselves from our own authentic preferences. We lose our agency to act and think, allowing the algorithm to do it for us. Are computers better than we are at drawing a reflection of ourselves?

In this series, visuals found on my personal explore page have been gathered to showcase the disruptive nature of the algorithm: an endless scroll of anxiety-induced chaos that I find myself getting lost into. This is the computer’s way of telling me who I am, who I should be, and what I should like.”
